
Give Your Old Blow Molding Machines a Second Life
If you’re running a small or mid-sized PET shop, you probably have a few older blow molding machines that just can’t keep up anymore. They feel sluggish. You want more bottles per hour, but the machine is hitting a wall. Usually, the culprit is the heating oven. It’s the bottleneck. But here’s the thing: you don’t actually need to drop a fortune on a brand-new machine to fix this. You can just swap out those generic heating elements for custom infrared (IR) modules.
Getting the heat right
To speed things up, you need more heat density. Plain and simple. We build these modules to fit your exact voltage and wattage needs, so you aren’t fighting against your own electrical panel. By moving to a higher-wattage halogen tube, the PET reaches that magic temperature where it’s ready to blow much faster. That means less time sitting in the oven. One heads-up, though. If you crank the wattage to shave seconds off your cycle, you’ve got to make sure your cooling fans can handle it. If you don’t, you’re just baking your own machine frame and frying your electronics.
No need to rewire everything
We use high-purity quartz glass with special coatings. Why? Because it pushes the heat into the PET wall instead of just scorching the surface. You get a deep, even heat rather than a burnt exterior. And don’t worry about a massive installation project. We use standard R7s or Sk15 bases. They’re basically plug-and-play. You just pop them into the existing sockets and you’re good to go. No need to tear apart your control cabinet.
What this actually looks like on the floor
Once these are in, you can run thinner preforms or heavier walls without needing a bigger machine. The real win is the alignment. We focus on getting the heating zone perfect so you can kill off those annoying “cold spots.” When the heat is uniform, the bottles come out with consistent wall thickness. Less scrap. Less waste. And you finally get to see what your machine is actually capable of when it’s not being held back by a weak oven.
