We built this infrared heater for pergolas to be one thing: tough. It’s a direct-wire, waterproof unit that shrugs off rain, condensation, and dust while throwing out serious radiant heat. This isn’t a flimsy patio add-on. It’s a proper, spec-grade piece engineered to make outdoor spaces feel comfortable and noticeably drier.
Power, voltage, and output—plain talk
At the heart is a high-output quartz halogen element running at 2500W on 400V. That voltage choice is practical: it matches industrial power supplies and keeps current manageable over longer wire runs, so you get less voltage drop and a more stable element. The 300mm length focuses the heat into a tight footprint, so you get high watt-density without needing a bulky enclosure. It heats up fast—full output comes on quickly—ideal for commercial pergola installs where cycles are short. The trade-off: with that 2500W density, the mounting area needs ventilation, and your wiring and controls have to be rated for the load.
Materials and design that actually make sense
We chose a quartz tube because it handles the shock of repeated on/off cycles and delivers infrared efficiently. The halogen fill gas keeps the filament stable, so output stays consistent over the life of the lamp. The tube is coated to keep water out, so the element can live in an open pergola without corroding. And the R7s connector? It’s a simple, industry-standard termination that makes the lamp a drop-in replacement for existing fixtures and keeps field wiring straightforward.
What it does for you out there
In a pergola, this heater warms people and surfaces directly—not the air. That direct warmth comes with a bonus: it helps reduce surface moisture and speeds up evaporation, which can limit the conditions that feed mold and mildew. And because the whole unit is waterproof, it can be installed in damp spots without needing constant protection. For engineers, the upside is clean: one compact lamp handles heating and drying, with a hard-wired connection that’s easy to specify into a permanent outdoor build.
