Most people see a bathroom heating lamp and think, “Great, I won’t be freezing when I step out of the shower.” But from where I stand, these things are about way more than just staying warm. They’re actually about controlling the room. We use specific infrared wavelengths to go after water molecules and surface moisture. The goal? Kill the dampness before mold even gets a chance to move in. How it actually works Here’s the thing: most heaters just warm up the air. That’s slow. Our IP65 units use short-wave and medium-wave infrared, which means the energy jumps straight to the surface. When those waves hit your wet tiles or grout, they get those water molecules moving fast, which speeds up evaporation. It dries the room out quickly. Since mold loves a damp, stagnant surface, taking away the water basically takes away the mold’s food source. Keeping things safe (and dry) We all know water and electricity are a bad mix. That’s why we use IP65-rated enclosures. It’s a fancy way of saying the units are dust-tight and can handle a spray of water without breaking a sweat. The seal keeps steam from sneaking into the electrical parts and causing a short circuit. One heads-up: these units put out a lot of heat. They have to, otherwise they wouldn’t dry the room fast enough. Because the housing is sealed, that heat can build up. Just make sure whatever wall or ceiling you’re mounting them to can handle the heat so you don’t end up warping your fixtures. A few tips for the road We build these to last, but be careful during the install. The quartz tubes are fragile. If you drop one? It’s toast. Once they’re wired in, the best part is that they don’t care how cold the room is. You could be in a freezing bathroom in the middle of January, and the walls will still dry because the system doesn’t rely on the air temperature to work. Just do me a favor: keep the lens clean. If dust builds up on the glass, it messes with the heat output and makes the whole thing less efficient. A quick wipe-down every now and then keeps everything running smooth.
